To Book Now, or To Book Later – That Is The Question

Holidays are a time for stress-free relaxation: or at least, they are meant to be. The organization and planning involved in going on holiday can sometimes seem like more stress than it’s even worth.

In our previous blog we discussed how to plan your holiday, but the all-important question of when you should book your holiday is a difficult one to answer. For over 10 years we here at Jantom Holidays have been providing fantastic holiday lets in Brittany, so we like to think we know a thing or two about holiday booking by now! So, to help you book at the right time for you we’ve gathered a few handy tips!

Know Where and When

Knowing where and when you want to go can help to sift through sales a lot easier; added flexibility on dates can also be a great help in getting a great deal. However, not caring about your destination or time at all will guarantee you a great deal!

Another consideration: do you want to stay when the holiday park is full of families, or would you rather visit when it’s quieter? Visiting our holiday lets outside of school holidays can almost guarantee you a less noisy stay!

Work Out the Typical Cost

New home

This is a great tip for booking a holiday: know the usual price of the holiday, for your desired time and location, so that you will be able to spot a good deal when you see one! Lots of companies claim to be running a deal or cheaper holiday, but sometimes this might not be at as much a reduced rate as you might expect. Stay ahead of the game by knowing the market! But most importantly: when you see a good deal, pounce on it!

Cheaper Flights

Flights before breakfast on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday are usually the cheapest option out there – largely because of the unsociable aspect of the dreaded words ‘before breakfast.’ But, if you are looking to save money on flights this is one of the best methods to use.

If you wait to book flights later (sometimes even as late as the month before) you might find that a flight’s seats are severely reduced, this is in order to fill them to capacity. This is a risky method and might end up costing you more money if it goes badly – but the reward might outweigh the risk for some!

Credit Card in hand

The temptation to book a holiday late can often come in the form of avoiding having to pay anything now. However, early booking can sometimes result in benefiting from special deals that are there to encourage early bookings.

This method can give you plenty of time to save up for your holiday – full payments not being required until as late as four weeks prior to the holiday in some cases!
