Planning a holiday can be stressful, especially if you’re not even sure where to begin. Whilst some people love the idea of planning everything themselves, for many the thought of having to make such important decisions makes them want to run and hide.
If organising a holiday makes you want to hide under your covers, we’re here to help. As a family company who has been specialising in holiday lets in Brittany for over 10 years, we like to consider ourselves as holiday experts. Using this expertise, we’ve put together some helpful tips for helping you plan the perfect getaway.
Get Everyone Involved
Don’t feel like you have to do all the planning and booking yourself. Looking for family holidays? Get everyone involved in the initial planning process! A family holiday should be exactly as the name suggests; chosen by all the family. Be prepared to compromise too – your family might all be looking for different things.
If your family aren’t really keen on getting involved, just ask them to give you a few suggestions. Any kind of input is better than nothing!
Research Before Making Decisions
The internet is brilliant for researching holiday destinations and places before making any decisions. You can read reviews, check out pictures and look at maps. Does it look like there is enough to do for everyone? Are there places to eat and good local attractions?
Most importantly, research allows you to work out whether a place is within your budget. Can you afford the resort? Can you afford to eat out nearby?
Whenever possible, we think it’s always better to book your holiday in advance. Not only does this prevent the stress of trying to find one nearer to the time, it also means that once it’s booked, you have something definite to look forward to!
Booking in advance also makes it a lot easier to budget later on. You’ll know exactly how much money you have available for spending money, or for buying all your new holiday clothes!
It also means you’ll find out in good time if your passports are out of date. Realising 2 weeks before you plan to go away? Nightmare!
Think About Travel
Whether it’s deciding how you’re going to get to the airport or port, or thinking about getting to your accommodation once you’ve landed at your holiday destination, it’s important that you plan and book your travel accordingly. You don’t want to be stressing about travel the day before!
Booking a taxi in advance, or booking airport parking months before your holiday, will give you peace of mind in the weeks and days leading up to travelling.
With beautiful landscapes and amazing attractions, Brittany is the perfect location for people of all ages.
